As part of Samsung's environmental sustainability approach, the 'Eco-Package' project, curated by the In-Between Design Platform and involving six design studios, was exhibited from June 2 to June 30 at Akaretler No: 37-39.
In line with Samsung's 'Back to Nature' vision, the company is focusing on looking back at what we leave behind, no matter how far technology takes us forward. In this context, within the 'Eco-Package' project curated by the In-Between Design Platform, Beril Ateş, Figure, Onaranlar Kulübü, Ottan Studio, Öykü Baştaş, and Serap Kaçmaz and Kubilay Ercelep on behalf of Herkes İçin Mimarlık Derneği reimagined Samsung TV boxes as functional and decorative products that we can use in our daily lives. The designs on display were brought to life to inspire consumers with what they can do with TV boxes, as Samsung has been the market leader in Turkey and globally for 16 years.
Samsung's new TV boxes are produced entirely from recycled materials and are intended for reuse. In the Eco-Package project, each TV box was transformed into a different design, with an emphasis on zero waste production. Modular ideas were developed for the designs to adapt to different spaces. With its environmentally friendly packaging approach, Samsung uses 90% less ink in its new TV boxes, contributing to both waste reduction and recycling centers. In this context, the designers also adopted an eco-friendly approach by minimizing the use of colors in their designs and using graphic elements such as lines, colors, and typography on the TV boxes instead of using staples. Since no staples are used on Samsung TV boxes, the designers also reduced the carbon footprint by using different waste materials instead of adhesive at the assembly points of the boxes.
