Maison&Objet Fair Brand Ambassadors Bilgen Coşkun and Dilek Öztürk, founders of In-Between Design Platform, presented the September 2019 edition of the fair in cooperation with Maison&Objet Official Promotion Office Assembly on 13 June.
The concepts of 'work' and 'office', which are in a radical change, are examined under the title of 'WORK' at the fair in September. Digitalization and mobility, collaborative working styles and pleasant working spaces, and the ability of workspaces to respond to personal needs and wishes are among the social trends underlined by Maison&Objet. In this way, the rigid lines between living and working spaces are getting disappear. This gives rise to three new terms. While 'Resimercial' brings the comfort and spirit of home to the office, 'corpability' combines offices with lobby and lounge areas in hotels. On the other hand, 'Hospidential' brings together the concept of living space design and the hospitality industry. It is predicted that 50% of large-scale companies will prefer shared workspaces in 2020. In this context, Maison&Objet's motto for September 2019 is 'Office life is dead, so long live ... life'.
New workspaces offers different interactions and lifestyles to the users. Digitization, nomadic business life, the rise of entrepreneurship, new and collaborative working models are destroying the concept of fixed office. We come across hybrid concepts that redefine spaces such as co-working, alternative spaces, open spaces, shared offices, working from home, hotel workspaces. The lines between work and home, private and public spaces are stretching. Employees want to see their offices as places where they can live and breathe. Stimulating and inspiring spaces increase interaction and creativity. This has a positive effect on concentrated work and therefore productivity.
Maison&Objet examines these developments under three new headings.
Collaboration: It brings together the features of home and work life. Manufacturers, retailers, furniture and decorative object manufacturers, architects, designers, interior designers and sociologists come together.
Entertainment: Spaces, talks and panels where you will feel the touch of Maison&Objet are waiting for you.
Resimercial: Examples of bringing home comfort to the office are presented to you at the fair. Considering that individuals working together are 89% happier, we see how important the design of co-working spaces is. New design approaches are emerging for new ways of working. Pro-working, well-working and work hospitality are among the design approaches that we will hear in the coming years often.
Maison&Objet offers smart and embracing design suggestions for workspaces. Lifestyle and design-oriented furniture, interior design solutions, office accessories, decorative objects, lighting and experience areas that will be presented at the fair inspires more mobile, transformative, customizable and comfortable workspaces. Interior architect and designer Philippe Boisselier is curating an exhibition with brands he defines as 'office-friendly' on a 1200 m2 area. On the other hand, editor Chantal Hamaide, presents a selection that adds emotional value with objects and accessories that prioritize craftsmanship.
We have brought together the formations that create original concepts by considering the concepts of work and office, which are undergoing a radical change worldwide, from different perspectives:
