Started its journey in 2016 with the name ISTANBUL-IN-BETWEEN, IN-BETWEEN; aims to bring creative portraits, cities, ideas, rising values in contemporary art and design scene together, through the culture of “living/creating/sharing in-between” and thus; form a spontaneous network among them. IN-BETWEEN is a collective initiative that grows from urban life and inspiring profiles, organisations, ideas of the cities - as well as its social and cultural environment.
Dilek Öztürk, Co-Founder & Editor in Chief
Dilek follows up the rising values emerging in the arts&design scene, creating and managing content in between inspiring profiles and cities and continues to work on the design communication field since 2007. She worked as an editor at Arkitera Architecture Centre from 2009 to 2011, then she took charge of Tasarım and Frame The Great Indoors Turkey as Editor in Chief till 2014. She worked as Events and Communication Manager at Design Foundation Istanbul from 2014 to 2016. She directs Design Unlimited Magazine which is published twice a year. She is a part time lecturer at Istanbul Bilgi University Architecture Faculty; giving lectures on Design Writing and Human&Environment.
From September 2016, she established Istanbul-in-Between as a platform where she gathered her communication network.
Bilgen Coşkun, Co-Founder&Creative Director
Dr. Bilgen Coşkun completed his undergraduate degree in the field of Business Administration at Bilkent University and his MA degree at Fachhochschule Osnabrück in International Business and Management. He continued with his PhD studies in Brand Management and Communication at Steinbeis-University Berlin. He has been consulting global fashion and lifestyle brands such as GAP, Esprit, Zalando, Gerry Weber, GQ, Dazed and Confused, Beiersdorf, L'Oréal, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Turkcell and Nokia concerning brand strategy, product/collection development, communication and retail management for over 10 years. He has been teaching in the Department of Fashion Design and Management at Mediadesign Hochschule Munich and contributing to local and global magazines about design and art. Besides leading the Fashion Management Department at Istanbul Moda Academy, Bilgen Coşkun teaches fashion marketing communications, fashion management, trend and market research and contemporary fashion brand management.
Yağmur Rüzgar, Editor
Yağmur is graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Urban and Regional Planning Department. She studied "Street art's role on the city's identity" for her dissertation. After that she has taken a part of the Urban Geode installation project where she aimed to leave an effect on people's daily routines by placing crystal formed and colourful pieces on the façades, especially the fractures on the surface. On 2012 she established urbanbacklog, a blog on visual impressions about the cities. She is working as an editor for various publications. She also likes to travel, drawing illustrations and taking photography.
M. Gökberk Tektek, Web Editor
Born and raised in İzmir. After he came to Istanbul for his higher education in 2014, He started working at Design Foundation Istanbul's Events and Communication department. This gave him a chance to be in the heart of design scene in Turkey. In 2017-2018 I did an internship at United Nations Regional Development Programme Bureau for Europe and Central Asia and still volunteering by teaching the "Design, Technology and Society" class that he prepared in an NGO called 1 Genç 1 Gelecek which is aiming to gain 21st-century competencies to high school students in Turkey.
Derya studied Industrial Design at Middle East Technical University before moving to London to pursue her master’s degree at Royal College of Art. She graduated from MA History of Design course, which is jointly run with the Research Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum. For her dissertation, she investigated national design identities and design politics. During her studies, she worked on various art and design installation projects as a curatorial assistant. Currently, she continues working as a gallery assistant at Somerset House and doing freelance editorial work for Machete Book Group.
