Maison&Objet Fair Brand Ambassadors Bilgen Coşkun and Dilek Öztürk, founders of In-Between Design Platform, presented the theme of the September 2019 edition of the fair on June 13, in cooperation with Maison&Objet Official Promotion Office Assembly.
The concepts of 'work' and 'office', which are in a radical change, are examined under the title 'WORK' at the fair in September. Digitalization and mobility, collaborative working styles and pleasant work spaces, and the ability of work spaces to meet personal needs and desires are among the social trends emphasized by Maison&Objet. With this, the rigid lines between living and working spaces are melting. We encounter hybrid spaces. This gives rise to three new terms. While 'Resimercial' brings the comfort and spirit of home to the office, 'corpability' combines offices with lobby and lounge areas in hotels. 'Hospidential' brings together the living space design approach and the hospitality industry. It is predicted that 50% of large-scale companies will prefer shared workspaces in 2020. In this context, Maison&Objet's motto for September 2019 is 'Office life is dead, so long live ... life'.
New workspaces offer different interactions and lifestyles to the user. Digitalization, nomadic business life, the rise of entrepreneurship, and new and collaborative working models are destroying the concept of fixed offices. Hybrid concepts that redefine spaces such as co-working, alternative spaces, open spaces, shared offices, working from home, and hotel work spaces are emerging. The lines between work and home, and between private and public spaces, are being stretched. Employees want to see their offices as places where they can live and breathe. Stimulating and inspiring spaces increase interaction and creativity. This positively affects concentrated work and therefore productivity.
Maison&Objet examines these developments under three new headings.
Collaboration: Bringing together aspects of home and work life. Manufacturers, retailers, furniture and decorative object manufacturers, architects, designers, interior designers and sociologists come together.
Entertainment: Areas, speeches and panels where you will feel the Maison&Objet touch are waiting for you.
Resimercial: Examples of bringing home comfort to the office are presented to you at the fair. Considering that individuals who work together are 89% happier, it becomes clear how important the design of co-working spaces is. New design approaches are emerging for new ways of working. Pro-working, well-working and work hospitality are among the design approaches we will hear frequently in the coming years.
Maison&Objet offers smart and inclusive design suggestions for workspaces. Lifestyle and design-oriented furniture, interior architecture solutions, office accessories, decorative objects, lighting and experience areas to be presented at the fair provide inspiration for more mobile, transformable, customizable and comfortable work spaces. Interior architect and designer Philippe Boisselier is curating an exhibition with brands he defines as 'office-friendly' in an area of 1200 m2. Editor Chantal Hamaide offers a selection that adds emotional value with objects and accessories that prioritize craftsmanship.
We have brought together for you the organizations that create original concepts by considering the concepts of work and office, which are in radical change around the world, from different perspectives:
